As the fastest growing sector in the hospitality industry, the short-term rental space is filled with opportunities and infinite potential. But how often do we read about the raw, founding stories that have forged its very existence?
We all know how much the travel landscape has massively evolved, and since the peak of the coronavirus crisis, more and more consumers will look towards hotel alternatives, that provide memorable and more exciting experiences.
What’s become a bit of a thing of pubic knowledge, is Neely There’s (heavy) involvement in the short-term rental sector. Over the last three years, we have had the honour of working with leading STR brands, and have learned a colossal amount in the process. It’s been incredible.
Most recently, it occurred to me (Neely) how the sector is in much-need for some positivity. The short-term rental space has been one of the worst affected as a result of COVD-19, due to lockdown and travel restrictions. It’s certainly been no easy feat to keep businesses afloat.
However, what we must remember, is that amid all this chaos, there are businesses and business leaders who have managed to thrive under the pressure; and show no signs of slowing down. “With chaos comes opportunity”, as they say; and I find this to be so inspirational.
So, as BIG FANS of stories, I thought – wouldn’t it be wonderful to cover the real-life stories of some of the most renowned self-made entrepreneurs from the short-term rental sector?
As you already know, we don’t do things by halves at Neely There; so, I’m talking raw, unfiltered, and unhinged stories – sharing details that have never been shared for the public eye before. Because, speaking about the ups-and-downs of any journey is vital when it comes to being an example for others.
And, here we are. After three months of talking, editing, (and a fair few tears), we have launched our first Unspoken Story. Our first story is in honour of Neely There’s longstanding client – and friend – Chris Maughan.
Chris has been exceptionally brave and honest by sharing his story with us. And whilst I had to do a little convincing – he’s now extremely happy to be sharing his PHENOMENAL journey with his audience.
To give you some insight, Chris set-up his short-term rental business from scratch, in a foreign country (where he initially, couldn’t even speak the language). Now, his business AES EventsGroup is a leader in Cannes, one of the world’s most lucrative regions.
Find out how this entrepreneur went from handing out towels to guests in a chain hotel; to eventually, setting up his own empire and working with the likes of MTV, Google, and Disney. There was no luck involved here, just sheer hard work and self-belief.
If you’re a short-term rental leader and think your Unspoken Story deserves to be shared, please send a quick email to [email protected] – Remember, we’ll be writing about the good, the bad, and the ugly. You may have never done this before; but I promise that the rewards that you’ll reap from it, will be worthwhile.
Thanks to our in-house design team at Wow Group, for helping to put this beauty together.
